Thank God its New Year

Yeah I know its not New Year yet. But...

This time of the year is filled with parties even for a reclusive person. Some years in the past I have gone to India around this time and hence skipped the whole holiday frenzy. But this year I am here and part of the entire thing. How avoidable are these parties? Some you can totally skip while some you cannot. In all there are quite a few parties to attend.

If its a Christmas party and out of politeness you go, not revealing to your host that you are vegetarian, you end up eating all the cheese in the buffet, nibble on the salad and then hog on the dessert, the more the sugar the better, since you think its a party and so far you've had 'nothing'!If you are like me you end up having very vivid dreams because of all the cheese you ate.

You go through a couple more parties like this and feel like you've had enough cheese for a life time. If you chance to look at yourself in the mirror you think 'Oh I look the same, its winter, my body needs more calories to sustain the heat, so am not gaining any weight'. But in reality you are wearing this pretty red sweatshirt which is doing a great job hiding all your newly acquired wealth.

Then you receive a call, thank god its an Indian friend and thank GOD its not a Christmas party. You friend tells you its her son's birthday and since everyone will be free during Christmas the party is on the 24th! You want to come up with a valid reason, like Salman but can't and agree to go. After hanging up, you think its ok, atleast I'll get some real food which I haven't had in any of the other parties. So you buy a gift and go for the party and are glad to eat 'good food'.

So finally Christmas is over and you have no more parties to attend. You wait for the New Year to arrive. Suddenly you realise the reason for New Year, its to make a resolution to exercise regularly and lose all the weight you gained the past month! The New Year is there to end all the cheese-sugar-candy-dessert-icecream eating frenzy and THANK GOD its New Year! Somewhere in the back of your mind you are thinking, There is 11 more months (until the next holiday) to lose all this weight , so there is time and grab a treat 'cos its New Year!

Sowmya, Lucky you! I wish I had such parties to go for! It does help if 'christmassy' friends are around I guess :-) Anyways I have other plans for the winter- warmer places are on the agenda! The 'kids on science' post was a nice one- didnt have time to post a comment on that one.

Some of these parties are a real drag. Warm places sounds good. Have a nice time!

I don't like Cheese and also avoid it when ordering my really "personal" pan pizza by saying things like "don't cut the pizza" (so that the same blade used to cut the pepperoni pizza is also not used on mine) etc. but when I see Cheese that is really fresh, I feel like saying "tu cheese badaa hai mast mast tu cheese badaa hai mast" :-)

Thennavan,
I never thought about 'using the same blade' stuff. Actually once I ate a pepperoni pizza without knowing it was pepperoni :-(.
